Sleep is necessary and very important for overall health. I think it is safe to say everyone will have trouble sleeping at some point in their life. Some people seem to struggle with this more than others though. Two popular homeopathic remedies for sleep issues are Coffea 200c and Nux Vomica 200c. I have utilized both at different times to help me and my family sleep.
Coffea, derived from coffee beans, is great for those who find it hard to settle down at bedtime due to overactive minds. Think of the effects of having too much coffee, if this is your activity at bedtime Coffea may be just the ticket. You may lie in bed, tossing and turning, with racing thoughts that just won’t quit. As someone who uses it before getting some shuteye, I can personally vouch for its effectiveness. The remedy helps quiet the mind and encourages relaxation, making it great to use before bedtime. You can also take a dose if you wake up in the night with active thoughts preventing you from getting back to sleep.
If I am having no trouble falling asleep but then wake up at around 3 AM unable to fall back asleep, Nux Vomica 200c can be a big help. This remedy is known to be beneficial for those whose sleep is being disturbed by overindulgence in food, drink, or even stress. Notice there the word overindulgence. This is one main reason to think of Nux vomica, overindulgence can lead to poor sleep but also stomach upsets and other issues. Even without the overindulging though, it can be a great sleep remedy when waking at the 3 o' clock hour because this is the time traditionally noted for liver cleansing during your restorative sleep and Nux vomica is a known liver helper.
Of course, Coffea and Nux Vomica aren’t the only homeopathics helpful for sleeplessness but they are generally a good place to start.
