Frequently Asked Questions

What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a an alternative to conventional pharmaceuticals and medical treatment. It utilizes ultra diluted natural substances to stimulate the body to heal itself. People frequently learn about homeopathy when conventional treatments have either failed them or have nothing to offer.

Why have I never heard of homeopathy before?

The biggest reason is probably money and marketing. Homeopathy used to be very popular in the US. There used to be over 100 homeopathic hospitals. The homeopaths were offering too much competition to conventional doctors. Some curated an organized effort to squash this competition, unfortunately they had a lot of money to help them in their efforts. If you are interested this article goes into some of the details surrounding it.

What does homeopathy have to offer me?

Homeopathic medicines help the body to heal without the side effects frequently experienced using conventional drugs. While there is no 100% guarantee, many people have been able to avoid or lessen the need for conventional drugs by utilizing homeopathy. Imagine using a medicine that helps your body to heal faster after an acute injury or illness. Imagine taking a medicine for a chronic condition, but instead of just temporarily relieving the symptoms the symptoms gradually lessen and can even disappear. Homeopathy is the medicine that can do it.

What is Practical Homeopathy®?

There are different methods of employing homeopathy. Practical Homeopathy® utilizes protocols for certain conditions that have been shown effective through years of observation. Many of the protocols were developed and refined by the late Drs. Prasanta and Pratip Banerji, father and son homeopaths from India. They spent years collecting data and formulating protocols to be able to help thousands of people a day in their clinic. You can learn more about them and their development of the protocols in the Gateway study guide. Joette Calabrese coined the term Practical Homeopathy® to encompass condition specific protocols and their method of employment to differentiate it from other methods. The other methods, though can work and do have value, were not seen by Joette to be as successful and work as quickly as the protocols.

Should I take a course or consult?

This depends on your level of interest, ability to study, and the complexity of your condition. I believe everyone would benefit from the essential foundational knowledge covered in the Gateway guide and study groups. Having this knowledge gives you a better chance of success with homeopathic use in general. If you are wanting to address a more complex issue you will either need to study more in-depth with a protocol course or consult with someone more educated in chronic case management for more personalized education. In the end you have to decide how much you can or want to address on your own or if you prefer more personalized education about your particular issues.

Do you have any research about homeopathy?

There is a lot of homeopathic research out there some more qualitative and some more quantitative. There are many great places to find these articles and peruse to your hearts content. Joette Calabrese has many articles listed in her learning center resource library, if you don't have an account yet you can create one for free. The Homeopathy Research Institute website has a lot of information on it. Hpathy also has a long list of research articles.
